On behalf of the women of Junior Welfare League, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your organization in advance for your support of the Junior Welfare League Charity Gala. Due to the kindness of the Enid community, the Charity Gala has become a highly successful fundraiser allowing JWL; to disburse over $250,000 to 31 local non-profit organizations in our community over the past eight years. As one of Enid’s premiere holiday events, the 2011 Gala raised over $28,000. During the JWL Capital Campaign benefiting the relocation and expansion of our thrift store, Return Engagement, the women of Junior Welfare League have continued to contribute to the community in a number of ways, donating hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to a number of community organizations and events.
Junior Welfare League is a charitable organization founded on giving during the Great Depression. Your support allows us to keep giving even as we embark on the expansion of Return Engagement. There numerous ways in which JWL creates an impact in the Enid community as well as surrounding areas. For over 82 years, the women of JWL continue to help those in need with a special focus on women and children. An example of this would be our Clothing, Education and Welfare (CEW) committee, who has worked over 300 hours and contributed approximately $12,000 to fulfill the needs in our school system during the 2012-13 school year. CEW is the heart of JWL and is completely unique to the Enid community that provides services to needy children by working with local school counselors. JWL’s first bake sale in August of 2011 allowed us to give over $10,000 to Tyler Zander and Bryce Gannon, the two boys injured a grain elevator accident. Every year a separate committee with JWL donates approximately $8,500 each year to the Enid community through requests including a $1,000 college scholarship.
For the 2012 Charity Gala, we are happy to announce that we will be disbursing 100% of the Gala proceeds to the surrounding Enid community. This year the Charity Gala will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the newly renovated convention center. We are looking forward to an exciting event themed after the infamous South Beach Parties of Miami. Our glamorous “White Party” black-tie affair will again feature gourmet hors d’oeuvres, live music, and silent and live auctions. We encourage attendees to participate in the theme and wear all white for this “tropical” winter evening. We are excited about some new items coming to our auctions, and we are working to bring back more exclusive seating options like last year's lounge areas for those who are interested, including our sponsors.
We know that you may already be earmarking your donations for the fiscal year. Please keep the Junior Welfare League Charity Gala in mind when making these decisions. The success of our event is dependent on the support of our sponsors. There are many ways to contribute including sponsorships, advertising, auction donations, and attending the event. This event is also an excellent venue for your employee holiday party. The 2012 Sponsorship forms are enclosed for your consideration.
Thank you again for your support of Junior Welfare League. I look forward to seeing you at the 2012 Charity Gala!
Sincerely,
Kristy Pasby 2012 Project Chair
